Positives: Compressor working as it should, not too loud. Great price, and I like having oiled model. Shipped with oil drained (mostly) and labeled as such. So not much mess inside of box. Negatives: Arrived without instructions. Oil for compressor supplied in an unlabeled bottle about 1/2 full, so had to guess if it was right amount. Dipstick is hard to read, and little room for error on level required (but oil supplied turned out to be exactly correct amount). Additional info: I view negatives as minor issues, and would have rated it 5 stars otherwise. Found instructions online. Also found generic compressor break-in instructions online, which Hitachi does not disclose. (first run for 20 minutes with air valves open to fully distribute oil to all internal parts). No information in instructions or that I could find online about oil capacity (and I didn't measure oil before putting it in). Reportedly, Hitachi model EC12S, similar configuration, uses 8 oz, so I'm guessing this EC99S does as well. Will find out when I change oil after about first 50 hours. Don't know if oil supplied was synthetic or not, but when I replace will use synthetic non detergent (probably just Husky brand from Home Depot). Working good so far, so highly recommend, especially for price of $110.Read full review

Item seems to work fine, my only real issue is where the oil dip stick is located (you have to bend it to get it fully removed from the reservoir as part of the upper housing is in the way).

I have a very large Puma air compressor but it's only good in the garage for working on vehicles. This Hitachi is just the right size. It's powerful enough to run an impact or framing nailer. It's also light enough I can move it around. Not too loud and the tanks fill up fast.

So mine is a refurbished unit seems to be a great deal. It had some scuffs possibly from the cardboard box but otherwise looked new. I have not had it long but so far it is quieter and airs up faster than a similar sized oilless compressor. Mine just came with the oil- no tools or accessories but was only $82 delivered. It did have a quick disconnect installed. It is not lightweight but I did not expect it to be. I would recommend it.

It's GREAT !! I've got 4 compressors and by far , it's the best one..... builds pressure fast , holds tank pressure even after it's cut off . The best.
