I have 4 other of the Scary Peeper tapping heads. I started with one of the original ones 4 years ago and had it in my window by the front door. It would tap any time someone came up to the door and also could see around the street. Most of the people jumped back when they saw it. I keep it there year around. It was great. I bought 3 more this year to put in different places. They are almost as good as a security system. They are advertised as putting them on the outside looking in but it doesn't help to scare anybody coming up to the door.

Thinking in terms of someone walking past your place, checking out a strange tapping noise only to find a scary witch - forgetaboutit! Not going to happen. It's a rubber mask with hands molded onto the sides over a plastic can, dark green with black hair and hat. Cannot remove the glued on hat or hair easily. Has to be up against the inside of a pane of glass looking out. Can't use it in the car because the glass angles out at the bottom. The suction cup holds it up just long enough to walk away, on the floor by your return. Have to use clear fishing line or strong black thread from a tack or nail to support it. The motion sensor is aimed at the sky, have to be right on top of it to trigger the tapping, maybe someone has to come between it and a light source like a post or porch light. Isn't going to pickup someone out on the street. Without the motion detector you have to use continuous pause and tap. The tapping can be heard throughout the house even with the yelling TV news people on. Outside the tapping is so faint you have to know what you are listening for and be reasonably close to hear it. Optimal would be to have a glass panel alongside the front door or to put it behind the glass of a storm/screen door and the front door only turning it on for Halloween night for trick or treaters who are coming right up to it.Read full review

My wife went home to visit her mom for the week. When she arrived I had set this up in the house and put it into the curio cabinet. When my wife arrived she was greeted at the door by the dogs. She sat her stuff down and sat at the kitchen table. Then she heard it. Tap, Tap, Tap. She inquired "What was that?" I replied, "What was what?" Then she heard it again, Tap, Tap, Tap. The sound came behind her. She stood up turned around and looked into the curio cabinet and didn't see anything until she heard the Tap, Tap, Tap. As my wife focused her eyes at face level she finally saw it. The witch was staring right at her. Suddenly it TAP, TAP, TAP again. With a cry of shock and surprise my wife cried out and scream, "What is that? Oh my God!" The look on her face was well worth the grief that she would give me later on that night. It was the best look of surprise and being scared at the same time I had ever seen. A prank well worth any April fool prankster like me. April 1 is my birthday. All I could say to her is "Trick or Treat!" then we both laugh about it. The product is so realistic and made very well that if you were not on guard, it will take you and any of your "Trick or treaters" by surprise. To me, that is what Halloween is all about, my trick on you as I give you a treat. TAP, TAP, TAP!Read full review

I saw this last year while visiting Durango, Colorado in a storefront. I am so glad I found one. The eyes are very lifelike and it operates perfectly. My grandsons have fallen in love with it.
