I first read Neil Gaiman in his collaboration with Terry Pratchett in "Good Omens" and continued on to read "Anansi Boys" over the span of a weekend for which I had many other things planned. Recently, after reading what was called an American Gods novella in his book of short stories "Fragile Things", I found I had to have this one. It did not dissapoint. Fantasy, horror and humor wrapped into a very novel world. I'd recommend to anyone who is a fan of books that don't simply tell an old tale over again by changing the names/species of the main characters. A warning: If your children get introduced to the author by some of his other works like the award winning "The Graveyard Book" (which is extremely good), be aware that many of his other works are not PG rated. In fact, this one would have been R for language, violence and quite graphic sexual content.Read full review
Neil Gaiman is an excellent author. The book is a large paperback that is easy to read and compelling. Nice change to read a book instead of watching a movie!

I gave this book 5 Stars because I read it on vacation and it was the PERFECT book to read while already in a relaxed mood. Fun characters, with evil, humor, geography & fantasy rolled up in an entertaining page turning read. I picked up this book after I heard on an informative radio format that HBO was going to make a series out of the book and it was mentioned that the producers have even asked him to write a sequel to keep the show going. What a blast that series could be if they do it justice! I read Neverwhere a while back and now after reading American Gods, I plan to pick up more Neil Gaiman!
