I love my new Ring video/audio door bell. Now I don't have to peek out of the window and try not to be seen. I can answer using the Ring app on my phone. First day I had it, solicitor wanting to give me a quote for a new roof. I was able to politely tell them no thank you, I wasn't interested and close the app. And they went away without another word. The wife can safely see who is at the door when I am not at home. That security within itself is worth the cost. Installation was sort of easy. The unit did come with a masonry bit, which I needed since the front of my house is all brick. Since the existing doorbell was at a 90 degree angle to the door, I was worried about the view on the video. So I considered mounting it to the door, as it comes with a remote doorbell ringer (the little white thing). Ring says the internal batter will last up to a year, depending on how often it detects someone or something within the defined view. But when I went to mount it, the 90 degree angle field of view was actually pretty good. I mounted it on the side wall, 90 degrees from the door and it works great. All I can say is....why did it take someone so long to come up with this? I have a lot of WiFi devices in my home and this is one of the best! If you are concerned about security, letting people know you may be at home or just want to screen for solicitors, this is a must have item! If you shop around you can find better deals than $199 retail. But after having it, I would say that even $199 is a fair price. Read full review

The device feels well built and sturdy. It's attractive and matches the other fixtures outside my door. It was easy to set up, the app walks you through the process. There is a Windows 10 app that you can get notifications on while you're at your PC and if you click on the notification it brings you straight to the live feed. There are many accessories available to help solve some common problems like if you have weak WiFi signal outside you can buy a Ring WiFi extender that doubles as an indoor chime or you can buy separate chimes to place anywhere in the house or if you don't have an existing wired doorbell you can buy a solar charger mounting bracket or angled brackets if your camera isn't aimed correctly. Its only 720p resolution and is a fish eye view but who needs to see visitors in high def? Great camera but it has a major flaw for Google Home users. If you do a google search and ask if the Ring Video Doorbell works with Google Home you will get results telling you that it does and links to pages titled "Ring Now Works with Google Home". This is very misleading. All features do not work with Google Home. As a matter of fact The MAIN feature, viewing your camera on your Chromecast connected television DOESN'T work. When they say that Ring works with Google Home they are referring to asking your Google Assistant the health of your Ring camera (replies with the amount of charge remaining in the battery) or telling your Google Assistant to turn on or off notifications. You can not ask your Google Assistant to show you the front door camera like you can with Ring and Alexa devices. I don't know if they are working on solving this issue, Amazon recently purchased Ring so I kind of doubt it. I would recommend this camera to Alexa users but would not recommend it to Google Home users. Eventually I got my camera feed to show on my TV by voice command but it took several more devices (android box, broadlink rm pro+, remote controlled HDMI switch) and quite a bit of set-up time.Read full review

This is one of the best products and certainly gives a tremendous bang for the the buck. I got this after a few packages disappeared off of my front porch and I am absolutely blown away at the quality of the picture, sound, and overall way this doorbell operates. I was able to install it in minutes while following the instructions on the YouTube video posted by Ring. It took about five or ten minutes tops to hardwire this puppy. The tech support was also great since I had a slight hiccup with the connectivity to my Wi-Fi. This was resolved by purchasing a $79 NetGear AC750 WiFi Range Extender that can be found at a tech store or even Target. Installed this device closer to the Ring Video Doorbell, paired the device with tech support guiding me over the phone once again, and boo yaaahhh I've got fast video and sound connection. This product works better than I thought it would, and because it operates so well, and tech support are awesome I will have one of these forever no matter where I live. As someone who works in public safety this is an excellent way to secure your home without breaking the bank. The video works excellently and the talk feature is amazing. I have it connected to my Ipad and Iphone 6S Plus. The alerts are a pain since it goes off of heat signature and took a while for me to adjust the distance because cars and anyone walking by sets the video off. But once that was done it was smooth sailing. I am also thinking about adding the stick camera that can also be added to the same app as the doorbell and chime. This product comes with a chime that is awesome as so if your doorbell is not that great the chime can take over and the sound volume can be adjusted. I definitely recommend this product to everyone.Read full review

EASY installation! Only takes about 20 minutes but you will have to fine tune the sensitivity settings. Failure to do so will result in you getting numerous notifications every time a car goes by. Camera has a clear display but somewhat limited range (15-20 feet) so while this is not an adequate substitute for a true home security camera, it is an excellent means to monitor front door traffic complete with the ability to have a real time conversation with would be visitors. Audio is serviceable but by no means studio quality. Occasionally there is a brief lag when switching to live view but this may be more of an internet connection issue. With that being said, make sure that there is a sufficient connection between the Ring device and your router. All said, while there are other more expensive, full featured options out there, this doorbell camera does what its supposed to do and does a pretty good job at it.Read full review

Initially our Ring Doorbell did not function quite right but with the excellent tech support from Ring and with a replacement they sent me twice, we finally got one that has worked flawlessly and does exactly what they say it will do. The techs were patient and helpful in helping me diagnose possible problems since wi-fi strength and speed are variables to check on. The company has followed up several times with inquiries about satisfaction and product performance. I am very satisfied with the company. The features with the camera, doorbell, night video, and motion alerts are very handy and the app works perfect on our iphone and ipad. The ability to store videos on the "cloud" for future reference is great and affordable. I will probably buy a couple more as presents for family members. Read full review
