I've had this lens for a month or maybe a little longer. My first impression was 'Wow what a light and tiny long zoom lens!' I think so far that size and weight are the biggest pros. I bought it to replace the Zuiko 70-300 which is larger, heavier, half the price and needs an adapter to mount it to m4/3 cameras. Pros: ---Light and small for such a long zoom. Very easy to take along when you might leave a larger/heavier long lens at home. ---Good contrast. ---Good focus speed. ---Build is decent. Cons: ---Very expensive compared to the Zuiko 70-300. ---Slow glass, be ready to use higher ISO handheld in anything but bright light. Tripod or monopod in low light. ---My impression from my own tripod mounted test shot comparisons is that this lens is softer than the 70-300. Disappointing. ---No lens hood? Come on! The hood from the 70-300 fits it. ---It's the first m.zuiko lens that I've had any disappointment with and I own all of them. ---My email question to Olympus support regarding lens softness has been completely ignored. ---I would only recommend this lens to a friend after discussing their needs. Small and light or bigger and sharper.Read full review
I've had this lens for about two months. I have found the image quality to be excellent -- but, it must be used with a tripod to obtain that quality. Although it is a fairly slow lens in terms of aperture speed, I find that the range relative to effective focal length is about what I need anyway to obtain proper Depth of Field. It is very well made and feels solid. It focuses fast and very accurately. Compared to other lenses of this zoom range it is very compact and light. The negatives are: Price relative to lens speed is a bit high. It does not come with a lens hood, which should be included at the price. The lens hood for this lens is the same one used for the full sized 4/3 70-300mm, which seems a bit over-sized to me -- but, due to focal length may be necessary.
One of the biggest selling points of M4/3. 600mm equivalent in a small bag. Checkout the size of 100-400mm Canon or 80-400mm Nikon! They will have roughly the same reach on APSC body's and are much much bigger!

Works well for what it is. Haven't had a lot of time to use it yet.

Good lens but the weight is a bit much. Also the lens creeps out when carrying.
