Us this if you can't get a Quadrajet to work good.
A Quadrajet is better when it is honed in just right, but if not, it can be a forever task to get it right. So this Holly as the best alternative (much better in my experience than that other major brand..). Easy to get this Holley working right out of the box. Doesn't have as fine mixture management as QJet throughout all ranges, but does get the job done reliably (KISS). Front left mounting nut is near impossible to get a wrench on. On a '67 Firebird 400, linkage is not right, going to have to drill a hole to connect throttle linkage at a lesser radius since using the outer hole doesn't actuate throttle enough to even open the secondaries. I don't see any reason to pay up for a new one, these are as good as new (I see no indication that the one I got had seen any use at all).A Quadrajet is better when it is honed in just right, but if not, it can be a forever task to get it right. A Great Bang for the Buck!
I mounted the Spread Bore on my project engine and without any adjustments the engine fired right-up. Once the engine was warm and vacuum advance hooked up I adjusted the idle mixture only a little and had great results. Don't be afraid of a Holley Refurbished carburetor. They will also save you some money!

Nice stock replacement on 350 Chevy.
Just about perfect right out of the box. Just had to adjust the idle and lean the idle mixtures 1/8 turn. On slight cam otherwise stock 1970 Chevy C-20 350 cu.in.
