Depending on where you look this camera originally retailed between $300 and $400. The previous owner took really good care of this one and I paid $90 for it - well worth the price. Be aware the SCL700 does NOT come with a USB port even though Ebay's listing says it does (the SCL770 has one). Even though it's not digital the picture clarity on the LCD is very good. The 8mm format stuck around forever and you can still find the tapes in a bunch of places including Ebay so don't worry about that if it's a concern in purchasing the cam. It's not as light as some of the newer cameras but it's also not clunky or heavy. You can hold it comfortably in your palm. There are also some effect buttons on the side that I don't really use.. like black and white. Umm not a whole lot more to say I recommend this camera but know that it's a couple of years old so try and get one in as good condition as I did. The cost of getting one repaired will probably me more than you end up paying for a used one.Read full review
A good quality Camcorder at an extremely great price price. I bid and won on this product to take on a sailing vacation in the Bahamas. When I get back home, I will edit them and make DVD copies to share with my friends and family. I like the size of the camcorder and the picture quality. I would have prefered a few more extras like extra spare batteries, but there are some up for bid on eBay anyway.
I like the clear picture on this camera. I bought it because it was advertised on E-Bay as having the same features as my Samsung SCL906. THe SCL 906 has a microphone input jack on the camera, by the lens, which I use when recording convention talks. I use these recordings to help elderly/infirm who are unable to attend conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses. I get perfect sound using the microphone input jack and a digital radio. However, the SCL700 has no microphone jack, and the sound is unclear. I will keep the SCL700 as a backup, but the results at large auditoriums is disappointing Art Cox Elkins, West Virginia
MY MAIN CAMERA IS EXPENSIVE BULKY MUCH MORE DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. OFTEN I WOULD BE SET UP IN ONE DIRECTION AND MISS A SHOT IN ANOTHER. I BOUGHT THE SAMSUNG FOR THIS REASON AND BACKUP ALSO SHORT SHOTS TO AVOID THE 10 MIN SETUP OF A PRO CAMERA. TO ME THIS SEEMS TO BE A SMALL CAMERA I HAVE BIG HANDS AND POOR CLOSE UP VISION I CANT WORK THOSE MICRO CAMERAS I LIKE THE SIZE OF THIS ONE I CAN SEE IT BUT ITS STILL SMALL.I LIKE HI8 TAPE FORMAT IT IS MUCH MORE DURABLE THAN DISKS RECORDS ALOT LONGER THAN DISK.WHEN I DOWNLOAD ON MY COMPUTER I CAN SPLICE AND ARRANGE ADD SOUND OR EFFECTS THEN BURN IT ON A DVD. SO I DONT NEED A DISK. THE FIRST FOOTAGE I TOOK WITH I WAS STUN AT THE QUALITY OF IT WAS REAL GOOD. PLAY BACK AND TRANSFER ESAY. DURABILITY 30 DEG. DAMP SNOW RAIN MIX 3'DIRECT DROP 20' SLID TUMBLE IN MUD AND DIRT 3 DAYS IN THE BOTTOM OF A BACKPACK CRUSH TEST STILL WORKS LIKE A CHARM. WHAT IVE DONE TO IT IN ONE TRIP IS MORE ABUSE THAN THE AVERAGE USER WOULD HAVE IN YEARS THATS WHY I GOT IT I WONT CRY IF I BREAK IT ILL GET ANOTHER JUST LIKE IT.ALL IN ALL IT'S A STOUT SMALL ESAY OPERATING GREAT PICTURE TAKEN CAMERA.Read full review
