You are there! Hear the jaguar & howler monkeys or the humming motor of approaching pirates or drug runners. Feel the agony stroke for stroke as you anticipate the joy of a new world record while piranha bite through the wet suit and vampire bite swoosh by at sundown. Smell the fear of anaconda, bush master, crocs, and parasites of all kinds. This is a movie in the making! Strel is 52, overweight, slightly crazed & doing the impossible for peace, friendship, clean water, and to draw attention to deforestation.You are there! What Martin Strel did is unbelievable! This story is written beautifully to chronicle the journey, as well as unveil the different sides of a man who seems incredibly human and not human, all at the same time. This book has an easy, exciting flow and is near impossible to put down.
