Great Author. Great Story. FANTASTIC! Read it in 3 days
I read this book in 3 days. The review submitted below is based on the written, but will obviously apply to the book on tape/CD as far as my review of the story goes. The Library of Alexandria is well known to some, but most people don't know much about the history of the greatest collection of writings ever compiled in one place. The library disappeared several hundred years ago without a trace; much like the lost city of Atlantis it has produced many conspiracy theories. Steve Berry has undertaken writing a thriller surrounding a mystery of ages. As in his other 4 offerings(read them if you haven't because they are all great), Berry uses the backdrop of an ancient secret to build upon. This book follows Cotton Malone, the character that Berry introduced in his previous work, The ... I read this book in 3 days. This book follows Cotton Malone, the character that Berry introduced in his previous work, The Templar Legacy. Cotton finds that his son has been kidnapped and watches his bookstore get burned after he is told that he must provide "The Alexandria Link" to a mysterious caller. He is given 72 hours to provide the link or his son will be killed. So begins a thriller that takes Cotton and the reader around Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. Malone knows what the link is but has sworn secrecy. He must rely on the skills he gained and the people he knows from his time as an agent in an ultra-secret US government agency, The Magellan Billet. He may be retired, but he is back in the thick of international espionage and the price could be his son's life; or worse, he could have to reveal the "Link", which could destabilize the world and end life as we know it for all mankind. The story centers on the origins of the Bible, it's various interpretations and the possibility of human error in translating the Old Testament from "Old Hebrew" to Latin and then to all other modern day languages. The people behind this conspiracy are from an ages old European secret society. The Israeli government could be involved. All middle-eastern governments are involved. The U.S. government is involved; and how high up the conspiracy goes is amazing. This book takes the ever-tumultuous middle-east and it's effects on the international stage, and opens the age old dispute over the land of Palestine and shows how the instability could be used to the advantage of the power and wealth hungry. If you are a fan of Berry, don't even think twice, get this book. If you are a fan of thrillers, get this book. If you enjoy edge of your seat, nail-biting action and plot twists that keep you guessing, get this book. You know what; GET THIS BOOK. It is definitely a great read and Berry has cemented himself as a thriller writer that ranks with today's greatest writers. He has meticulously woven a tale using historical fact and creative license to keep the reader guessing until the last chapter.

This story is quite good. It isn't my favorite Steve Berry book, but still very enjoyable. If you enjoy his other works then you should enjoy this one as well.
