  • Not for Dummies!

The author writes in a friendly and humorous manner, which helps to take the stress out of a subject that can indeed be intimidating. The subject is introduced in gradual doses, each chapter building upon the previous one. It should be noted the this is definitely college-level chemistry, not intro to chemistry and as such is not for the student with limited background in the subject. There are numerous helpful diagrams and cartoons on the subject pop up to de-stress. Overall, an excellent adjunct to the chemistry curriculum.

  • A useful supplement for a dreaded class!

I purchased this book because I was apprehensive about organic chemistry, and I wanted to help my grade as much as possible. I've always had good luck with other "Dummies" books, so I figured this one could only help me. This book is great to read before you begin your course. It will give you some basic review of some of those chemistry principles that you may be weak on, never fully grasped, or are just completely clueless about. It will provide you with a good outline of what to expect in the course that everyone tells you is absolutely horrible. It is also extremely useful to keep it handy to help clarify some of some concepts that your textbook may present in a language that you think is English because you recognize the words, but you just plain don't understand. I recommended ...

  • I would definately buy this book again.

I bought this book to read and study so I can get a head start on learning Organic Chemistry. I am scheduled to take Organic Chemistry in the Fall 2008 at the college that I am attending and I hear it is hard. So I thought that it would be in my best interest to start early. Basically, I purchased this book so I could self teach myself. In addition, I will also use this if I need assistance when I am in Organic Chemistry because the For Dummies series of books are so much easier to understand than most textbooks (though I wouldn't use it as a substitute for my actual textbook, I would use it in addition to my textbook.) This book is very knowledgable and helped me a great deal. The For Dummies series of books have yet to let me down for I have owned and used quite a few of them.

  • easy to read, breaks the info down pretty good.

The book is relatively entertaining, breaks down O-Chem barney style. I have only made it thru the first 100 pages, but as of right now I would recomend it to other people. I think it would be a good companion to a O-chem class, kind of like a second round of lecture explaining things.

  • Organic Chemistry for Dummies

This a a great tool for learning organic chemistry and is very easy to understand. Also a refresher is included for chemistry and the author tells you what you need to know to learn organic chemistry.
