My soldering guns are fairly old - both have had the "bakelite" bodies replaced with the more flexible plastic ones some years ago. I used to see the spare tips at most hardwared stores but these days they are getting harder to find. Like most hard to find items, they need replacing when it's most inconvenient. So when I find them for a decent price I try to get a few spares. These are the real deal - Weller brand.

Real Weller 7135 tip comes plated and tinned but w/o fastening nuts so it needs to be installed. For 8200's and Juniors: Legs of the tip need to have old clean nuts slid on (threads up) with the last 3/16" of both bent at 90 degrees to fit into the holes on the gun's contact tubes. The nuts when screwed into the the contact tubes, press down on the legs in the tube holes to make the electrical contacts. The nuts need to be reasonably tight and will need to be tightened again throughout the life of the tip since the thermal expansion stress of use tends to loosen them. See online at Weller of YouTube for additional help,

have had my Weller soldering gun for over 40 years. The tip was about ready to break apart so I ordered these 2 tips. Took about 5 minutes to uninstall the old tip and install the tip. tinned the tip and it was ready to go.
