  • Great book - a definite "must read"

I'm a huge fan of this author - the "Price of Loyalty" is the first book I recommend to friends to get insight into the Bush Presidency and the Iraq War. This is another great one dealing with intelligence gathering and various facets of the War on Terror. The title refers to a "risk framework" articulated by Cheney about how much we need to know before we take action. Whereas the new Woodward book takes an "insider" focus, this to some degree has a "here is what it was like to be somewhat of a marginalized person" during this process (Woodward does that as well, but this has a little less of inside the White House). If you've read a lot of books on these topics ... well, I found myself reading a lot of material that I have already read, but that's OK - the repetition across books and ...

  • The One Percent Doctrine

The author is known for an excellent earlier book on the Bush (43) administration, which he wrote together with Bush's first Treasury Secretary, Paul O'Neil. His current book, The One Percent Doctrine, digs even deeper into the closet where the skeletons are kept. This is not a tale of "high crimes and misdemeanors" worthy of an impeachment trial, but rather of how the sharp beaks at the top of the pecking order in Washington have a go at each other and keep the smaller chickens in line. Susskind shows how the primadonnas at the top are ultimately dependent on the knowledge and skills of the government experts much lower down on the payscale and can't be any better than the latter, only worse. The most important revelation in the book concerns the continental policy shift wrought by the ...

  • The One Percent Doctrine

This is a book everyone should read. It takes you into the mind of our Goverment and how the CIA and The FBI work so hard at keeping the country safe and how the Bush addministration lied to the people of the United States and how he and the VP brooke the laws of the country to acceve selfish meends and used the Armedforces to the fact of greed and selfishness to which led to failure of the Bush administration and the loss of American Jobs in hugh nombers.

  • Informative. "Must-read" for any student of government.

At times Tenet-centric, this work conveys the modern sentiment that many tips pursued in the fight against terror are often followed blindly, and that foiled attacks and the cause of their disruption can be misunderstood or missed. Suskind understands that, much as Cold War tensions dominated the political spectrum during its time, the present era shall be defined by the repercussions of Cheney’s One Percent Doctrine and intelligence decisions post-9/11.

  • More first rate journalism from Ron Suskind

Carefully done, well-written portrayal of the Bush administration. Gives clear examples of the process in this White House. Very useful book for understanding how we got where we are as a nation.
