#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - NOW A STARZ ORIGINAL SERIES Unrivaled storytelling. Unforgettable characters. Rich historical detail. These are the hallmarks of Diana Gabaldon's work. Her New York Times bestselling Outlander novels have earned the praise of critics and captured the hearts of millions of fans. Here is the story that started it all, introducing two remarkable characters, Claire Beauchamp Randall and Jamie Fraser, in a spellbinding novel of passion and history that combines exhilarating adventure with a love story for the ages. One of the top ten best-loved novels in America, as seen on PBS's The Great American Read Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach--an "outlander"--in a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743. Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, Claire learns her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives. Praise for Diana Gabaldon's Outlander novels "Marvelous and fantastic adventures, romance, sex . . . perfect escape reading." -- San Francisco Chronicle , on Outlander "History comes deliciously alive on the page." --New York Daily News , on Outlander "Gabaldon is a born storyteller. . . . The pages practically turn themselves." -- The Arizona Republic , on Dragonfly in Amber "Triumphant . . . Her use of historical detail and a truly adult love story confirm Gabaldon as a superior writer." -- Publishers Weekly , on Voyager "Unforgettable characters . . . richly embroidered with historical detail." -- The Cincinnati Post , on Drums of Autumn "A grand adventure written on a canvas that probes the heart, weighs the soul and measures the human spirit across centuries]." --CNN , on The Fiery Cross "The large scope of the novel allows Gabaldon to do what she does best, paint in exquisite detail the lives of her characters." -- Booklist , on A Breath of Snow and Ashes "Features all the passion and swashbuckling that fans of this historical fantasy series have come to expect." -- People , on Written in My Own Heart's Blood

I forgot how small the type is in mass paperbacks and how the print sometimes smears. Not the seller's fault; they said it was a mass paperback. Just a reminder.

I bought this book for myself and then I bought one for my husband the following week.

Diana Babaldon is an extremely talented author who takes you deep into the lives of her characters. The book keeps you engaged from beginning to end. The physical book itself is of good quality and the price is good.

A little more worn than expected. Great price though.

I would need to read what "Good" means. The front cover was ripped and it is well used. I've bought other books in this category that are in better shape. Otherwise it was a great price so I probably shouldn't complain.

  • From someone who hates reading to speed reader...

I think this series of books accumulated in my moms collection since Diana first book, "The Outlander." One by one my mom had bought the entire series and they sat on her shelf for the last couple years. She has already read the entire series 3 time over and lent it to my aunt who's read it 2times over also. Just recently i started my f/t job which happens to have me working shift work, which is why i took up a little bit of reading. I never used to like reading, i was in the learning center when i was little because my reading comprehension was super bad. Anyways, i picked up a few steamy books which i went through the 3-4 of them pretty quick on night shifts and then i was stuck with not knowing what to look for in a book and not knowing a good author seems how the ...

  • Outlander Review

I had purchased series 2-7 of this book set, so only needed the first book. It came very quickly in the mail and I could not wait to start it, so I could continue with the other books. I'm only halfway through the 2nd book in the series, but I am still extremely interested and compelled to read all the books in this series. A great author who puts great attention to detail and authenticity for the time period. I'm really enjoying this series of books (and loved the series on television)!

  • Love the Outlander series!

The books have more detail than the tv series! I love the tv show but am anxious for any extra information from the books. Have started reading volume 1 already. Thanks for offering a great package deal!
