About this product

Product Information

The #1 New York Times-bestselling author of Survivor in Deathhas Lieutenant Eve Dallas walking a tightrope between her professional duties and her private demons. Eve Dallas is one tough cop. She's got no problem dealing with a holiday reveler in a red suit who plunges thirty-seven stories and gives new meaning to the term "sidewalk Santa." But when she gets back to the station and Trudy Lombard shows up, it's all Eve can do to hold it together. Instantly, she's thrown back into the past, to the days when she was a vulnerable, traumatized girl-trapped in foster care with the twisted woman who now sits in front of her, smiling. Trudy claims she just wanted to see how Eve was doing. But Eve's husband, Roarke, suspects otherwise-and his suspicions prove correct when Trudy arrives at his office, demanding money in exchange for keeping the ugly details of his wife's childhood a secret. Barely restraining himself, Roarke shows her the door-and makes it clear that she'd be wise to get out of New York and never bother him or his wife again. But just a few days later, Trudy's found on the floor of her hotel room, a mess of bruises and blood. A cop to the core, Eve is determined to solve the case, if only for the sake of Trudy's bereaved son. Unfortunately, Eve is not the only one to have suffered at this woman's hands, and she and Roarke will follow a circuitous, dangerous path to find out who turned this victimizer into a victim.

  • Memory in Death

I love these books and the relationship between Dallas and Roarke. This is a great series and a fun quick read. Just enough, romance, murder mystery and a little sci-fi thrown in to make it a run away hit series with those of us that like all three of those genres. I'm just a wee bit tired of all the repeated stuff though, like how tired she gets, the flashbacks to past trauma, the fear of small children...we get it already! Overall though, these are a fast read with good pace. The plots are not overly complicated but there is enough there to keep you interested.

  • Why I wanted this product

I am an avid reader and J.D. Robb is one of my favorite authors. I have the entire collection of this series. The characters are very hip and J.D. brings them to life. This product was easily obtained and promptly delivered after the purchase. I hope to be able to obtain other books in this series when they become available. I highly recommend Ebay to anyone who wants to buy something and enjoys promptness, courtesy and even when things don't go well a high level of ethics.

  • Good but not great

This latest of the "In Death" series is much slower paced than the previous books. The reader can figure out almost from the beginning "who done it". There is the usual hot steamy sex with Rourke, the usual Dallas denial about how the situation affects her but there isn't the usual scenario where Rourke and/or Eve are in mortal danger (in other words this one isn't "all about Eve"). I bought it to complete my collection. A friend got me hooked on the "In Death" series and it has taken me 3 years to read all of them. This is the last one until the new one "Born in Death" comes out in November 2006.

  • Memory in Death by Nora Roberts

I really like this book and its another great book to the collection of J.D. Robb/ Nora Roberts books. Lieutenant Eve Dallas has to confront painful memories when Trudy Lombard, one of her foster mothers, comes to the police station to talk to her. Trudy had left painful memories on eve of cold baths, being locked in the dark, and scrubbing the kitchen with a toothbrush. Eve stops her current investagation and leaves the station in a hurry. When the station contacts her husband(Roarke) to see if she is ok, Roarke hurries home to find eve huddeld in a hot shower. Roarke is very upset now amd awaits trudys visit and he suspects blackmail is behind trudys return. Sure enough, Trudy attempts to extort $2 million dollars from Roarke at his office and youll have to read the rest to find out what ...

  • Memory died a slow death!

A very disappointing read....laborious, predictable, no interesting plot or characterization. Mavis is not even really in the book except to reference her, what is it now 2 year long? pregnancy! The supporting characters that make Eve such an interesting person and the books such fascinating reads were missing--for a book set during Christmas, this lack was even more apparent. I am a huge fan of this series, have read every one of them, and this book was the first that felt like a huge waste of my money. While I have always bought the hardback as son as it was on the shelves, I will wait for the paperback version of the next In Death offering.
