  • You Have NO IDEA how a cheapskate could be So Generous

Intense, yet long, story of the richest man in the world. Richer than Bill Gates, based on % of GDP. How he got there, how the government meant to thwart him yet made him 2x as rich. How he helped shape NYC. And how he spent the second half of his life giving away the money he had made from owning Standard Oil stock. STANDARD OIL (S.O. or Esso) spawned: Exxon, Mobil, Pennzoil, Union 76 (Unocal), Vaseline, Chevron, ARCO, Amoco, and more. A business school education on why it more important to own stock than the actual business itself. A+ story, 2015 is the perfect year to read this book.

  • Another Great Chernow Book Into My Library

I always enjoy Chernow’s books. His studies of Washington and Hamilton were very good. This book definitely does not disappoint!
