A SLEEPER CLASSIC - LOST BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
I remember seeing this film when it first appeared on cable television back in the early 90's (release date was 1992). It featured a cast of actors that were unknown at that time, with the exception of Lorraine Bracco, who was to be making her break out jump from television. AND the narative talents of a "barely established" Tom Hanks. Included in the cast are child actors, Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings) and Joseph Mazzello (Jurrasic Park). Also in the cast (though the camara works hard at keeping him facelessa) is the youngest of the Baldwin brothers, Adam Baldwin (Independence Day). This story delivers a very powerful message that deals with children as victims of child abuse in the 1960s. It's written beautifully by David M. Evans, as memories as seen through the ... Except for the hairstyles, which sometimes glare of the 1990's trends. Buy this DVD, you won't regret it. Especially if you have young ones and want to spend the afternoon watching a great movie with a lovely discussion afterward about parent and child releationships.

This is my favorite movie of all time. I've seen it so many times I've lost count and enjoy it every time I watch it. This movie is about two boys with an abusive, alcoholic step-father who escape from the reality of their sad situation by using their imagination to go to a better place. EVERY parent and child should watch this movie together, followed by a discussion about the lessons of triumph over tragedy. This movie also features several current stars who were unknowns at the time the movie was made. The first time I saw the movie I knew without any doubt that Elijah Woods was an actor we would see again; he had such talent for a young child. It's funny because whenever I tell people about this movie they usually aren't familiar with the name, then they watch ... This is my favorite movie of all time.
