    Good System with Bad Maps

    The Good: I would recommend this GPS system. It is fully customizable - so you can "hack" it and run miopocket or other GPS skins on it without too much technical savviness. This was my first time bypassing a GPS system, and I did it in about 15 minutes, counting the reading and research that went into it. With such a customizable system, you can do anything from watch videos to play music to load Garmin maps, to write a document in Microsoft Word. Most systems (from what I gather) are much more difficult to bypass than this one. It is very customizable, which is good ... because nobody really wants to use the Copilot maps which come with the GPS. They are the epitome of outdated-ness. My first realization of this was that I searched for a Best Buy and the closest one reported was 1 ...

    HORIBLE gps. do not buy. get garmin, tomtom, magelian, or mio instead.

    bought 2 of these. owned for 2 yrs now. one after some time did the known issue of the locked screen and in chinese says "unauthorized". it will cost you the price of a new unit to get it fixed unless you bought it from an "authorized" reseller which most on ebay are not. i have found no known fix for this yet. it needs to be reflashed via usb. the maps are WAY out of date. they lag on when to turn and when you are at your destination. so you could drive past it (normal), or not be there yet. you have to use a power jack to charge it since they failed to put a tie wire from pin 1 on the usb (+5vdc) to the charge jack + (i fixed that on both of mine!) replacement charge cable is $20+ ! oem, is like $30+ ! the batteries are weak. one is totally bad, the other does not get 4hrs of run ...

    great gps

    i purchased this gps because the reviews i've read indicate that when it has the opportunity to select from several routes, will choose the route that you would choose. i also like the interface. it is very easy to use. it's plenty bright and easy to see. so far i cannot find any negative aspects to this gps.

    Easy GPS device to modify!!

    Overall, this is a great product in terms on functionality vs price. The Copilot version 7 is a average GPS software but its maps are not as accurate and updated compared to most other GPS manufacturers. Version 8 is much better but not available for this unit. I bought this unit strictly for spare parts as my touch screen on my RW400 is not working. Taking it apart, I found it was the flat cable to the touch screen that went bad. Upon receiving this unit, I was able to power on the unit and everything is working nominally? So I did not bother replacing my LCD screen on my broken RW400. That one now is now treated as spare parts. After Googling around for possible custom modifications, I was to get this unit to boot into windows CE mode and then removed the copilot software and ...

    Overall, an O.K product!

    The screen is definitely large enough. The maps are a little outdated. It'll cost about $40 to update. Not as many POI's as TomTom or Garmin. Cannot update POI's. Good GPS unit for the money. It'll get you from point A to point B. I would recommend it as long as your looking for a simple unit.
