A story hardly told in history books. The author brings this great story to life.

  • Retreat from Gettysburg

This book told of the unspeakable hardships facing the soldiers of both sides immediately after the Battle of Gettysburg. Lee retreating to Virginia with 4 columns of wagons, each 17 miles long, that had to be pushed through the muddy roads in a driving rainstorm is a surreal vision.

  • Gettysburg

This book is a must for anyone interested in the Gettysburg Campaign. Kent Masterson Brown does an oustanding job of giving great detail to Lee's retreat without being boring. This book brings to full circle the great battle at Gettysburg. Lee's retreat tactics were better than his battle tactics but unfortunately they are not well known to the average reader.

  • SHOCKING details

The mountain of details makes grinding thru them equal to the grinding of the wheels on the wagons and ambulances. I'm enjoying it.
