  • The start of a whole new beginning!

If you enjoy alternate universe or survivalist stories, you're going to love Eric Flint's Ring of Fire series. 1632 centers around a small West Virginia town (based on an actual town that Flint researched to make the story more accurate and plausible) that finds itself transported through time to Germany in year 1632 - right smack down in the middle of the Thirty Years war. A long time fan of science fiction, I read this book based on the recommendation of a friend and have since gobbled up the rest of the series. I even gave it to my father-in-law and had to work hard to stay ahead of him! You don't have to be a fan of SF to enjoy the fabulous writing and creative genius of Eric Flint.

  • One of many

The first of a series of books written by Eric Flint about a West Virginia town, people and surroundings transported to 17th century Germany. Very entertaining as the uptimers and downtimers interact with all attempting to survive the wars, religions and people of both periods. Stories are packed with historical characters (kings, clergy, warriors, artists, etc.) that after their interactions with the uptimers will change the course of this history.

  • A fun, readable story of alternate reality.

This is a fun alternate history/time travel book heralding in a series. A redneck, West Virginia mining town and environs are sent back to Thirty Years War Germany. There's no nonsense, as in other books of this kind, of disarming the populace either. These are all red-blooded practial, normal middle class working men and women thrust into a challenging environment. And the story is about the likable people dealing with surprise adversity. I bought this hardback to finish out the set of hardbacks in the series because I'd originally bought a paperback.

  • 1632, where it all began

1632 is an amazing time travel story that sparked a community and a series of books that will send you down rabbit holes! Thank you Eric Flint for creating this universe for us to explore.

  • A Great Book that should be made into a movie

The book was shipped promptly and is exactly what I wanted. I've read it several times and now I've got my own copy to read again and pass on to the next generation to read as well. Thank you.
