The push-button operation, built-in chilling system and powerful beater for mixing air into the mixture makes creating ice creams and similar goodies so incredibly easy. No crushed ice, no salt, no exhausting cranking for an hour at a time. Just mix your ingredients, pour them in (not too much, it'll make a nice large 2 quarts, but don't overfill it!) and push the button! About an hour later... Voila! Ice cream! (yes, it looks soft serve when it's done, but visit an ice cream factory and watch as they drop the packaged ice cream through super-cooled chilling towers to get it to the hardness that you find in the stores.) Then pop it in the freezer overnight to get the ice cream as hard as you're used to in the stores.

It appears to be a well-made machine, but after a few tries thus far I've had no luck with either ice cream or sorbet. In each case after about 30 minutes the mixture froze rock-solid against the side of the bowl, and the mixing blade became stuck. The motor does not simply shut down when the blade is frozen stuck, but instead it keeps trying to turn while making an alarming racket. This freeze up happens even though the remaining 2/3 of the mixture (located between the center and the frozen periphery of the bowl) is still semi-liquid. You cannot just hit the pause button and wait for things to warm up a bit; you have to shut the machine off completely (thereby canceling the whole cycle). I had to remove the mixing bowl and place it a pan of water to free the blade. The directions imply that a 60 minute cycle for ice cream is appropriate. That's the default cycle length. Next time I will pause the the cycle, manually scrape the frozen layer towards the center of the bowl, and resume the cycle. I did not pre-chill the mixture or deviate from the suggested recipes, so those aren't the source of the problem. I'll try different cycle lengths next. It will be disappointing if this expensive machine needs babysitting and intermittent bowl scraping during an hour long process. At least the machine gets cold, very quickly dropping to zero Fahrenheit, and it stays there.Read full review

I love this machine simply because you don't have to crank, or put the bowl in the freezer for 24 hours before making ice cream. It is easy to use, easy to clean and it is very quiet. I love the recipes I got from the manufacturer, so they always turn out. Thanks!
