As a fan of the Nexus line and stock Android in general, this phone is the perfect combination of stock and added phone specific features. It's not completely stock Android but it's certainly not far from it. This is the first phone I've ever picked up where the added features don't feel gimmicky. But more on that in a minute. The hardware is fantastic. It's strange because compared to the newest top-of-the-line phones, it should fall drastically short performance wise. Yet, it remains a strong contender. The phone has never locked up or struggled with anything I've thrown at it which goes to show that numbers aren't everything. The battery life is exceptional but still is only 2200 mah so if you're using it a lot, it will deplete rather quickly. It still holds it's own and performs exceptionally well against the other phones with bigger batteries. It's the only phone I've ever had that I haven't had to throw a battery saving app on and I usually go to bed with the phone between 30-45% life left. It feels extremely comfortable in the hands and has a nice matte finish on the back to make it feel very well built. Onto the software features, the only feature that I feel is gimmicky is the shake to launch camera. I still use it a lot but it's not needed. The active notifications is amazing. I don't miss my old phone's LED notification at all. It's a very low power, efficient and silent way to show the notifications you have and you can easily just move the phone to activate the active notifications and ensure you didn't miss anything while away. Touchless control, while less useful, is still pretty cool and a fantastic way to show off your new phone to friends. It also works if you just woke up and want to get the extra snooze time without having to actually pick up the phone. The only con I can think of for this phone is the camera which is just as bad as you've been reading about. It's 10 megapixels but the quality that you get from some shots is not that great. Higher light shots look good but in a darker room, there's a lot of image noise. The camera app is the worst I've used on a phone. You get the options to geotag, shake to wake, move the focus and turn on HDR. That's pretty much it. There are no features for the video. You hit the video button and it starts recording right away. The video looks good again in high light Overall, there's really not much I can complain about this phone. It's fast. It's stock Android. The features it does add are very useful and smart. I would recommend this to everyoneRead full review
I've owned the Moto X for a couple of months now. It got here quite quickly, considering it traveled across the world (US - Norway). The Moto X is my first Smartphone, but I also own an iPad which I'm satisfied with. To get to the point: POSITIVE: It's easy to learn how to use, quick response when clicking, some clever features, lovely unique look, decent pictures, it does everything a smartphone is supposed to do. I love the "wiggle" camera activation, use it all the time. Love that you can unlock the phone without clicking on the side button. Loved the "OK Google now"-feature, mostly used for boasting though. NEGATIVE: The contacts/calling-App is a bit clumbsy, but definitely useable. Dissappointed in the battery, lasts a little more than a day (with casual use), which is OK, but not as good as I hoped. The "battery save" feature only activates when battery hits 15%. Why can't this be activated at all times? The phone crashes from time to time, may be caused by apps, but still annoying. "OK Google now" only works if you use English as language, which unable me to boast to my friends without changing language all the time (out-of-US problem). The main thing that annoys me is a "burn-in", a "picture" which always stays on in the background of EVERYTHING I do on the phone. Weither I'm looking at a picture, browsing the web or writing a text there is visible "Google Now" letters and a microphone symbol behind what I'm doing. This is quite hard to explain, but I hope it's understandable. The problem is impossible to fix, I've search every corner of the Internet with no solution. I've gotten used to it, but I still see it and feel a bit let down. I saw the problem from day one, this was not caused by me. It's important to mention that I have NOT tried to get a new Moto X from the seller, or from the Moto X-company, the reason being that I don't want to be without a phone for the period it takes for me to send it back to US and for they to send a new one back. I'm pretty sure that they will send you a new one if you're in for a wait. This review seems a bit negative, considering the ammount of negative feedback. This is however misguiding, because the Moto X is an excellent phone, even compaired to the other big companies phones. If you're unlucky and get a phone with Burn-in, just ask the seller for a new one! If you want an easy-to-use phone, which has all basic features + some innovative new ones, for a cheap price - buy the Moto X!Read full review
Upgraded from a Verizon stock Galaxy Nexus. The Moto x has the same size diplay, but it's in a slightly thinner and smaller case. My Moto X is stock Android 4.4.2, with Nova Launcher and about 120 Apps. Feels great in the hand and the Active Display and Touchless Controls work well once you learn them. The twist twice for the camera app is actually very useful. Very snappy, performance; on par with the iPhone 5s. Battery life is a big step up from the G Nex. A 14 hour day is easy, but I don't watch many videos or game. Moto X battery life is better than the G Nex with a 3800 mAh battery. My GNex had just become so laggy, that I bought the Moto X to hold me over until I could use an upgrade for the iPhone 6 later this year. I'm really impressed with the Moto X and will probably keep it longer than planned.Read full review
Fanstastic phone. Very quick and does everything I need it to. Plays videos nicely and all websites come up and launch quickly. Overall very impressed with quality. Also nice speakers and internal cameras. Going to love this phone. Setting it up on Page Plus requires a SIM Card but on EBAY you can get them for only a buck! Make sure to order a protective case and screen protector for it. I am going with a antiglare for now to see how I like it. I bought the 32gb internal memory Moto X because I didn't want to run out when installing apps or videos. This phone doesn't allow you to install a SD card so you want all the internal memory you can get.
Coming from someone that likes to put a custom rom on Android phones, I must say that I liked this phone straight out of the box. Even with Verizon's and motorola bloatware the phone is still snappy. I go through the day easily with battery power to spare. mostly used for playing games, whatsapp, emails calls and texting. At 4.7" screen it was just right for me. The default camera app is not good but using Google Camera made a world of Difference. I would recommend this buy to anyone who doesnt want to shell out big bucks for the lastest flagship phones.
