Easy-to-use low power amp on a budget
This is a convenient little amp for driving two small speakers. It's about as loud as an LM386, but it doesn't need supporting components to clean it up and remove noise. There is no need for coupling caps to drive the speakers. Just connect the speakers and power, and you're set up. The downsides: 1. The screws in the screw terminal blocks don't turn, at least not with light force. I stopped applying torque because I was afraid that forcing them would break the block. This is easy enough to deal with by simply soldering the speaker wires to the underside of the board, so it's not a problem for me. 2. It doesn't sound like 10 watts. Maybe this is just a characteristic of the class D design, but I found it to be no louder than an LM386. Not a problem if you're just building desktop ... Let me start off by saying that I am not a hi-fi snob. I just wanted a cheap way to listen to music from my smartphone at a comfortable listening level. But after I hooked it up to some TV speakers and a 12V motorcycle battery I'd salvaged, I decided that this is a quality piece of equipment. At full volume, it is LOUD! I'm giving it five stars because at the price it is damn good. But I do have a few nits to pick. So far, the documentation I've found is rather sketchy. I did learn on some forum that the power jack is center-positive; I'm still not clear on the little jumper in the on-board connector next to the volume control. Is this for the on/off switch? Next, there is another on-board connector immediately adjacent... Mute switch? I'll figure it out; maybe I'll write the documentation ... Let me start off by saying that I am not a hi-fi snob. In closing, let me just say this: Buy this little gem, and you're well on your way to having a nice smartphone/MP3 player. Although you could make do with an Altoids tin, to do it up right you will need some other parts. First, get yourself a couple of 8ohm speakers (or four 4ohm speakers and wire them in series, two on each channel, to present an 8ohm load to the amp). You'll need a 3.5mm male cable for the input jack and whatever size plug the power jack requires (I stripped one off of an old wall wart power supply from my junk box). You may want to build a case and/or some speaker cabinets (I found two little desk drawers in the Dumpster that will be great), and you may want a knob for the volume control and maybe some switches, too: An SPST on/off switch; maybe a DPDT switch that allows you to choose between AC power from a wall wart and battery power. It might help if you can solder and use basic tools like an electric drill, a reamer, a hack saw, etc. Buy two just in case you trash the first one!

Great Buy, One Small Issue
Arrived SUPER FAST! My only complaint is that the large capacitor on the board is, well, really large. The stated dimension says Height: 22mm (.86in), but it is actually 26mm (1in). This is only a slight difference, but it could greatly affect someone's build. I haven't had the chance to test it out yet. I have high hopes! All-in-all, great buy. A+++

Nice little amp.
Nice little amp. I used it to make powered speakers from a couple of old speakers that I had. Works good. I thought it was kind of strange that I had to install the chip heatsink myself. Someone could throw away the bag and not even see the small heatsink.
