I bought the GX2200 as a second (backup) VHF for my boat. The built-in GPS endures that if an emergency occurs on your boat a quick press of the distress button will notify others of your exact location. I hooked my GX2200 to my Lowrance Elite 9Ti2 chartplotter and can easily track AIS Vessels over 15 miles away. AIS can also be tracked on the radio LED screen but on the chart plotter it's awesome. Voice transmission easily 20+ miles. Awesome radio!!!
