REF Model # LA5700XSW1 WHIRLPOOL Washer Installed easily (carefully aligned & tapped white pieces onto shafts until flush) & working fine now; long term=we will see; IMHO the metal inserts on "other new designs" (285753A) present more risk than benefit (better to replace this direct drive coupler than risk damage to motor & transmission drive shafts).

Weak Construction Design
I Replaced this coupler while rebuilding an old washer. Five wash loads later the connector on the motor side cracked in half, failed. I had saved the original coupler part and reused it to replace this new part. The previous design of the coupler is a solid round connector and this new one is a thin triangle shape. The failure is at the motor shaft input hole it stress cracked off one ear of the connector. This is my experience and my opinion is to look for the solid round design, not this one.I Replaced this coupler while rebuilding an old washer. No Metal
I put in one that had a metal insert about 3 years ago. The metal rounded out on one side of the coupling. The coupling was good EXCEPT the one side that no longer had a flat spot... People on the internet advise using the ones like this instead of the one with metal. It doesn't make sense, the metal one should be better BUT in my case it wasn't.

Replacement part
If your motor coupler breaks then this is the part you need. I used it for my Kenmore 80 series washer and it is exactly like the original one that broke on the machine. It is a simple $5 repair job that can save you money if you can do yourself. Took me about 15 minutes to replace after watching a video on it on you tube.
