Great for a first timer wanting to try out the sport, or in combination with others for serious magnet fishing!
I bought this with some experience in magnet fishing. I have a larger sized magnet that wouldn't fit into an old spring box I found on my property, without smashing the lid. I got this size to stick in and see if I could find metal. I got lots of small shards, but NOTHING of interest... not the magnets fault though! This thing is powerful for its size! It isn't heavy to carry, but has enough heft for good throws. It will find ferrous metal and pull it up, I have seen it. Once I checked my spring box, I made a set up with this magnet and my bigger magnet for better grabbing when needed. The magnet is more than proficient at pulling nails from the drive, yard, etc. I recommend this magnet for anyone who is considering this rewarding hobby! Please remember though, dispose of your trash! ... I bought this with some experience in magnet fishing. Much smaller than expected
I was expecting an item roughly the size of a hockey puck, this is about the size of a Girl Scout cookie. It will pick up just about anything metal upon contact, it seems, but wasn’t what I was hoping for. It’d be a lot of trouble and shipping to send it back, so I’ll keep it and keep searching.
