This older version of the KitchenAid shredder is way better than the newer (safer) version. Even though used they cost about double of the new version they are still worth it. Thank you ebay for making finding one possible.

This used KitchenAid RVSA Rotor Slicer & Shredder SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN OFFERED TO SELL by eBay. eBay's credibility is affected. We couldn't use this item because of two big cracks around the metal that connects to the mixer. Had we've been told about the damages, we could have bought a brand new KitchenAid RVSA Rotor Slicer & Shredder. It's a total loss on our end! We are very disappointed, disgusted and sad! It's our first time to buy from eBay, gave our full trust; but eBay SHOULD HAVE TOLD US ABOUT THE CRACKS. THIS IS REALLY BAD!!!

The listed item says it is located in Dallas, Texas. If so, why was it shipped from Singapore? The shredder and slicer cones do not fit onto the 3-pronged drive 'wheel' as originally received. I had to pry the edges of the rectangular openings on the cones so they would at least start to engage with the drive 'wheel'. I assume the metal of the cone and/or drive wheel will eventually bend to open up the connection and become more secure and easier to attach and remove. My original, circa 1978, K45 drive 'wheel' has 6 prongs and it has always been easy to attach and remove the cones. The drive wheel 'disk' is loose at the connection to the shaft. It appears to have a hole in the disk that the shaft is inserted into and then a few small punches on the disk around the edges of the shaft hole are peened over a little bit to keep the disk from falling off the shaft. It might not come off right away, but it is already loose. The cutters in the cones are not sharpened. They appear to have been punched leaving a flat cutting edge that was not sharpened. The 'Fine' shredding cone has only 3 cutting ripples in each segment. My original, circa 1978, K45 cone has 4 and they are all sharpened; not simply punched and flat as the new one is. The add did not state that the housing was cracked. My old slicer was cracked and that is why I ordered this one. I didn't send it back because I figured when my current slicer finally broke to the point that I could not use it, at least I would have time to search for yet another. I was disappointed because most of the adds stated that theirs was cracked and that is why I purchased this one. I guess the old adage is true it sounded too good to be true, so it wasn't true.

It’s very good- you just have to beware they have a tendency to develop a crack where it attaches to the mixer. I have a previous one that has cracked, but I can still use it - just have to be careful to not put too much pressure on it when you’re feeding things into the slicer/ shredder. I see this one has a small crack also.
