Very handy tool with one minor, correctible flaw
This small generator will be very handy for running non-battery-powered tools on our property (10 acres, mostly wooded,) and for charging 12V batteries on garden tractors and other equipment. The weather was fairly cool (+25F) the first day I ran it, and it started fairly easily. I like that it has a manually-controlled choke, which will make it easier to manage a start on a seriously cold day. The only problem I've encountered, and the reason for a 4-star rating, is that the 12-volt charging cable is built backwards, in my estimation. (Must have been made on a Monday.) Typically the red wire on such a cable will be the positive one and black is negative. Not so fast, there! This one is built the other way around. It took a while to determine why the circuit breaker popped each time I connected to a battery, but at least I got to test that feature. It works just like it should with reversed polarity. The polarity markings, the + and - on the front panel, are correct. To make the charger cable as long as I needed, I added an extension to it. That way the generator can sit on the ground and the connectors can still reach our truck's battery. The polarity problem can be corrected simply by soldering the proper-colored clip onto the correct extension wire.Read full review

louder than most quiet ones. this is so bad, when your in survival mood they always give you something you have to keep but you know it should be returned, this has happened for over 5 years now, this is auful, before EBay was real close to perfect!
