I've had this thing for two weeks now and I've been running it for different projects sometimes up to 24hrs straight and its been working great. It does heat up a little bit like you would expect it to after a while. I'm thinking that I might put a water cooled system on the outside of it to keep it at lower running temperatures when it's pulling an all-nighter. Showed up in good packaging. Unfortunately all the oil that was in it when it was shipped had leaked out. If you're buying this product, you need to remember to buy some vacuum pump oil. You're going to need some. Judging by what had spilled out, it was going to need some more anyways. I'm considering buying another one just because these vacuum pumps are so darn handy. Will purchase again

There are no assembly directions included. I made the mistake of running the pump after looking at the oil sight glass and it had a low but operable level of oil. Nope it was false there was no oil and I blew the pump. The pump has instructions to use HFV 32 oil. That is a "chinese" spec. It uses regular ole vacuum pump oil. ISO32 Hope this helps you.

The pot and the vacuum pump, hose, and fittings are all solid. I had difficulty locating the necessary vacuum pump oil before use. It would have been much better if the kit included a pint of vacuum pump oil. The Acrylic (Plexiglass) lid is not suitable for this device. I was very careful to inspect the plumbing mounting hole in the lid for any kind of fractures before assembly - there were none, the hole looked very good and clean. Upon first use, after about 15 minutes under full vacuum cracks began to develop emanating from the hole culminating in an implosion at about 30 minutes in (photo included). The violent implosion not only destroyed the lid but also damaged the vacuum gauge and knocked the pump off of the table. At a minimum the lid should have been made from Polycarbonate or even better yet glass. The 1/2 inch thickness of the lid is inadequate for Acrylic and may even be marginal for Polycarbonate or glass. After acquiring a new Polycarbonate lid, a new vacuum gauge and a step drill I made modifications to mount the plumbing through the stainless steel pot (instead of compromising the integrity of the lid by drilling a hole in it), the unit functioned as expected. Instead of being the turn-key solution that was anticipated, turning this into something usable turned out to be an expensive and frustrating endeavor.Read full review

The plastic on the pump unit is cheap plastic, also the pump is VERY leaky. Also the silicone top has a hard time sealing and it takes some getting used to when trying to create a seal with the vacuum pump. But once you get the hang of it it works well and holds a good seal. I allow the vacuum to seal and took it down to -30 and it held that vacuum all night with no drop. Would like to see a heavier bottom pot for a more even heating. For the money it is a great setup.

Great little vac pot and pump for the price. Quality of seal and the lid is a bit sketchy but it's doing the job fine. Just be safe and cautious around it.
