When you follow a series, one that spans time, you get the added pleasure of watching the character grow. In this case, Seth grows. He started out in book one of the series as a very troubled, very confused and very frightened young boy. He has had to endure a life most couldn't dream of. Coming from a childhood where drugs, sex and abuse are the norm and meeting four men he learns he can look up to is something extraordinary. When his savior dies in an accident some deem suicide, he is taken in by the saviors three adopted sons after receiving a death bed promise. The three sons are determined to keep the promise, no matter the stakes involved... and they succeed. But not without the bumpy road and trials that come from a greedy mother trying to extort them for her silence and her son. Seth refuses to allow her to taint his new found family and his new found love for them so he starts paying her demands from his own pocket. In Chesapeake blue, Seth is a man now.. with a mans wants, needs and heart. He has learned all he knows from his three "brothers" and they have forged a bond thicker than blood could ever bind. Seth, fresh from Europe and studying his beloved art, returns home to St. Christopher to find his family has grown up and a beautiful new shopkeeper he is determined to paint. But her past is a big part of what she moved to St. Chris to avoid. A socialite by training, she is just starting to get used to the hometown feel of this beautiful waterfront community and the beautiful people who populate it. A relationship is the last thing on her list of wants and needs. Seth, being the creative man he is, breaks past her reservations and loves her with all he has. How can a woman refuse? But Seth has enough to hide from both her and his family. His mother is still extorting him and no matter what he says or does, she does not go away. He remembers what she put his "brothers" and their wives through just trying to keep him out of her hands and refuses to allow her to taint their lives once again. Better for him to deal with her and keep her away from his family then to allow her to drape them in her greed. Will Seth ever be rid of the wicked woman who gave birth to him and will he convince the woman he loves that a life shared is better than being alone? I strongly suggest picking up the entire series and reading them through... do not skip ahead, do not just read one. There is a beautiful story here that will enrich the soul of any one who picks up the book. Nora does not disappoint in this series. This series, from beginning to end, is heart warming, beautiful and shows the reader what love can really do.Read full review
