I've owned numerous WML's including Surefire's flagship M600 Ultra. However, I don't jump out of helicopters for a living and so don't need anything excessively bombproof, just reasonably rugged & durable. Enter the Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 1 & 2. The RM-2 looks to be a direct competitor to the aforementioned Surefire M600U, but the smaller RM-1 is what caught my eye, what with being reasonably bright, smaller, lighter & capable of taking AA's in a pinch if CR123's aren't available (at the cost of 150 lumen output vice 350 lumens w/CR123's). Being able to fit all aftermarket Surefire M300/M600 mounts is icing on the cake. Yes, it's made in China, but China is capable of making excellent lights. No, the electronics aren't potted, but then neither are Surefire's. Hotspot is tight & bright, peripheral spill is good but not as full as M600U. Tailcap switch has a good combination of easy to press/activate for momentary-on w/a decent depth before activating constant-on. The included remote tapeswitch & replacement remote tailcap look good (I don't use them), but obviously aren't as rugged as Surefire's offerings (but at 1/4 the price, I don't expect them to be) although having both momentary and constant-on switches on the pad is great. One should exercise care when deciding on how to mount both the light and remote tapeswitch since the cable isn't detachable from the tailcap and so either the body of the light or the tapeswitch has to be free to unscrew the tailcap to change batteries w/o damaging the cable. 10-Tap feature worked perfectly to allow me to select my preferred High-Only mode (High/Strobe & High/Low are the other available modes) and prevents accidental mode switching due to the number of quick taps needed for a deliberate change. My RM-1 mounted perfectly on a Magpul MOE Scout Mount, exactly as an M300/M600 would w/the button perfectly placed for activation w/the support hand thumb. My only very minor complaint to date is the O-ring that seals the tailcap to the body seems a touch flimsy. No big deal, tougher O-rings are cheap at your local hardware store. For appx $100 you get a lot of light w/accessories that would cost you a lot more if purchasing Surefire accessories. Great performance & value for your money, I give it 5 stars. Read full review

This light is a must for any true shooter, made very well with high quality components and being a complete weapon light kit for under $130 is a godsend already. This lot wear perfect on pretty much any set up and has multi feature like bright, low and strobe feature you'd come to respect form $400 units. The feature that sold me was the Dual fuel feature on this weapon light. Allowing the use of a single cr123 or quality lithium AA meaning when things get down and dirty you can rest assure you can always source power for your weapon light even in emergency situations where CR123 may not be present. I'm giving this unit a 5/5 because for its looks, built quality and how solid and reliable it has been like all streamlight products. The only thing I would change is I wish I bought a couple more :)Read full review

I can not tell you any reason to buy a Scout light after buying this new release from Streamlight. This light is fantastic! Very bright, comes with batteries, can run on multiple fuel sources, comes with the tap cap tail switch AND the pressure switch, the mount for the switch, zip ties, 3M sticker to mount the switch several ways and to make it secure. Finally the light mount! It is identical to the Scout mount and fixes to any rail or, (here's the kicker) it can be removed from the mount and attached to the Thorntail mount or any after market mount made for Scouts! That is an awesome feature. Basically it's a 350 lumen Scout that comes with all the bells and whistles included, yet cost 1/4 the price of a new surefire scout with the same accessories. I'm in love with it already! way to go Streamlight! If you're on the fence BUY this light and spend the $300 saved on ammo instead of a Scout! I'm going to buy more while they're in stock!Read full review

It’s a great product only down side is it’s not rechargeable nor is it a possibility cr123 rechargeables are not recommended for the product. battery life is ok but carry a spare, brightness is sufficient for low light areas not blindingly bright but I prefer it that way. Mount feels solid didn’t use it though just a preference. Switch was great hated the sticky tape went for the plastic mount and reinforced with electrical tape then cloth tape over that. All in all served my purpose well works with any Surefire scout mount. Surefire switch adapter available as well as dual pressure pad for dbal or peq. Great buy.

I don't really know what to say other than this set up is one of the biggest bangs for the buck you can find. Solid construction, very bright 350 lumens, AA battery adaptable, very solid pressure switch, (not a flimsy tape switch) all mounting hardware, all in one package. And able to mount to most scout mounts or on a pic rail. For a third of the price of a Surefire, I can't recommend this light system enough. I mounted mine up to a Magpul scout mount and it's rock solid. Twenty thumbs up!!
