I'll always remember Paul Davis as a refreshing break from the counter-culturists of the late 60's and 70's. Here was a guy who found a way to write and sing nice songs that were not offensive, did not require a lot of deep introspection and yet they stand out now as I listen back to them for their purity and their authenticity. Ride-em Cowboy is a terrific song which one would believe was written by a real washed-up cowboy...yet Paul Davis was never a cowboy. Then you listen to his best contemporary offerings and you appreciate his ability to change with the times, without selling out his music. Gone too soon, and missed for the music and for the kinship the music inspired.
Every once in a while you'll hear a Paul Davis tune on the Muzak in a store somewhere and wonder what ever became of him. I was never a big enough fan to buy his albums, but always liked his tunes. This CD was made for folks like me that wonder where all these bygone artists have gone yet have a big chunk of their music in one offering. I never even knew what he looked like. Sadly, he's not with us anymore, but at least now he'll occupy a spot in my CD collection and get listened to.
This hard to find Collector CD has all of Paul's Greatest Hits! So many years I've searched for it among the Big Music Retailers with negative results. So happy E-Bay had it with such ease of finding! I'm one very happy and satisfied customer. Price was very reasonable!
Great music from years ago to bring back great memories.
