Since last December i have sourced and purchased all the 2016 pressings of the Queen SHM-SACDs pressed by Universal Records in Japan, probably pressed at the Toshiba Disc pressing plant. I purchased 6 direct from Japan as personal imports, i purchased 3 via Amazon and sourced the final 6 via a American dealer via eBay. Total paid, including UK duty paid on the personal imports, £507.90 Are all of the 15 discs worth that outlay? to a non Queen fan i would certainly say no. The sound quality is on par with the original Japanese vinyl replica CDs from 1998-2004 but no better. These are to be the final pressings, i am led to believe, so i hope they become collectable. If you are a record/CD collector then they 'are collectable' but if you are looking for enhanced sound quality then the USA 2011 Hollywood Records CD pressings or the 2014 Virgin/Emi Half Speed 180g vinyl remasters are just as good, better still the original EMI vinyl pressings from 1974 onwards are in my opinion the best.Read full review
