I love this cd! If you buy Crimson Idol buy the Special Edition 2 disc Remastered version. The first disc is all the same songs as the orginal. The 2nd disc has a few bonus songs as well as live versions of The Idol, Hold On To My Heart, Great Misconceptions of Me, Chainsaw Charlie as well as a few favorites like Wild Child, & I Wanna Be Somebody. This special cd set is worth the money, glad I held out to buy it and got this one instead of the single disc. The cd tells the story of Jonathon as misguided youth who runs away from home. Along the way he runs into many different characters, as well as fame, fortune, & well you have to get the cd to find out the rest. The book contains the whole story/background with all the songs/lyrics. I have been a W.A.S.P. fan for many years and this is one of my favorite cd's to listen to. From fan to fan it's worth the buy. This CD is considered by many W.A.S.P. fans to be the ultimate album by Blackie Lawless and W.A.S.P. and I would agree it is one of there best.The concept of this CD follows the story of Jonathan Steel from his troubled childhood to his rise and fall as a rock superstar.This CD has excellent songs like "Arena of Pleasure","Chainsaw Charlie(Murders in the New Morgue)","Doctor Rockter","The Idol",and "Hold on to My Heart".Blackie put his heart and soul into this album. Jonathan still lives.
Saw them live at the tiv in buckley and they did the whole of crimson idol as well as some fan favourites. Excellent gig and superb outfit..... Go Blacky your the man.

Blackie really pours out his soul in this one. His Story of Jonathan's rise and fall is the perfect script for a movie, which I actually think there is one, but I don't know for sure. Every single song is awesome and the album gets better with each track. Blackie's vocals are perfect on this album. This album isn't just for WASP fans, anyone who likes Rock or Metal should love this album. It is one of my all time favorites.
