Great CD-Love the style of music,David Lee Roth's voice and animated presence.Great guitar work and sound. Not as good as his cd titled Eat Em and Smile but along similar lines.
This is the follow up to the album "Eat `em and smile" also by the same musicians who are David Lee roth vocals (Van halen), Matt Bissonette Drums, Billy Sheehan Bass and Steve Vai Guitar. Research these names if you are not familiar, they are all amazing musicians and many still tour together. This album was considered by many as "not as good" as the first album eat em and smile, i think you need to own both, as they are regarded as a major "Monster collaboration" of musicians and as a guitarist myself I found the songs so inspiring, for riffs, melody's, solo ideas, guitar techniques its all here. Many of the songs here also featured highly on radio when they were released which is a plus for albums of this type as they are not always considered commercial. Amazing grooves, riffs and performances, great song ideas, this album puts me in a good mood every time, its high energy positive rock at its best!Read full review
I had this on cassette when it came out in 1989 and played it to death, the cassette is still going but bought it on cd to play in the car and after 21 years it is still as good as the day i first played it. Steve Vai's guitars are ethereal and so huge that it still blows my mind how they got that sound. billy Sheehan's Bass lines are equally sublime and with arguably the greatest frontman of his generation, David Lee Roth is awesome. Buy it if you love any of the above artists, or just by it on ebay, listen to it for the experience and if its not a keeper at least you tried it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DLR previous album Eat em and Smile is also worth a listen but this is a masterpiece.....
This album is a great cheesey 80's rock album with David Lee Roth (previously the front man for Van Halen) colaborating with Steve Vai (previously recorded classic guitar based alums such as "Passion and Warefare" etc, and played on a Whitesnake album. The tracks have a really 80's sound with some great guitar riffs and a some nice tapping and licks. If you are a fan of either, this album could be for you, I personally only purchased it old times sake. If you do like the colabation then you should also buy the "Eat them and smile" which in my opinion is a much better album with some great guitar and more of a variety in the style of songs. Both David Lee Roth and Steve Vai have both contributed to the rock scene with some classics such as "Hot for Teacher" & "Jump" (Van Halen)and the album "Fire Garden" (Steve Vai). This album is for you if you are an 80's throw back:) Rock on!Read full review
