BOSTON sounds perfect on SACD. No, it isn't remastered in 5.1 surround and no, it isn't a hybrid disc. It is a 2-channel STEREO Super Audio CD so it must be played on a SACD player. Many arguments I've read about the sound quality of this disc. Is it better, worse or only just as good as the remastered redbook CD? And what about the origins of the recording itself? All I will say is I have been listening to BOSTON since 1976 and the sound quality of the recording has NEVER been an issue for me......neither has the decision to keep it 2-channel stereo for the SACD. Having BOSTON is one of the jewels in my SACD collection. It is certainly the disc I listen to more often than any other SACD I own. It sounds richer than all the other Boston discs I own and well worth searching for to purchase.Read full review

The multi-channel layer is actually worse sounding than the 2 ch. layer which is almost identical to the original CD. I wish the multi-channel layer was true 5.1 surround rather than just stereo surround. The acoustic guitars entrance(in multi-channel layer) of "More than a feeling" suffers and sounds rather dull and lifeless compared to the 2 ch. layer which sounds brighter and more articulate. In the multi-channel layer the DSD Recording Sounds terrible, and in 2 ch. stereo layer it sounds pretty close to the original CD recording. This SACD was a waste of money!
