My first experience with Billy Joel was this album when it first came out in the 70s. Loved listening to it over and over again in the car. Could not get enough of this album. Bought 52nd Street before I heard the album because I liked The Stranger so much. The album sounds great, but the real reason for getting this is for the live cuts. You can tell this was recorded in the 70s because the crowd did not go nuts when Just the Way You Are was played. You will love this if you are a Billy Joel Fan.

Billy Joel, the classic performer who seems to span generations. The Stranger is considered by many to be Billy Joel's best album. It won a slew of Emmey awards. Almost every song was played many times on the radio (Movin' Out, Only The Good Die Young, Scenes From an Italian Restaurant, more). The remastered 30th Anniversary Edition only makes the already great that much better. Why purchase this one over other recent remasters? The bonus CD of Billy Joel at Carnegie Hall. He has many live albums -- some very good like Songs in the Attic. This is by far the best live release yet. The chit chat with the audience, the sound quality, his young voice never missing a note, and introducing now legendary songs for the first time. Unfortunately, the over two hour show was reduced to a bit over one hour for the CD, None the less, it is a Billy Joel fan's dream of s show, and a must own.Read full review

I lost all my vintage cd's and albums in a flood. the sound is excellent on these 2 cd's. trying to replace all my music from the late 60's, 70's and early 80's. this was a great choice!
Wonderful cd!Billy Joel should make more albums of live concerts! and Miami 2017 (I've Seen The Lighs Go Out on Broadway) is the best song ever
