I bought this originally on vinyl in 1974 just because I was familiar with the sound of Deep Purple and expected no less from this album. In fact, I liked this album so much, my Ebay ID was inspired by one of the tracks called, "A 200", the dark, instrumental piece of the album. This album features brilliant musicianship from all members, especially Ritchie Blackmore and David Coverdale. Every song is a masterpiece and that probably is because they came back fresh with the new line-up that included David Coverdale (vocals) and Glenn Hughes (bass/vocals). This album is well-produced and is definitely worth more than I paid for it -- the "no covers" thing doesn't bother me too much... it still comes down to the music and that does stand out by itself -- great rock 'n' roll!Read full review

David Coverdale really brought a soulful, more bluesy feel to this classic Deep Purple release. This is one of my favorites by the band because it has the great guitar jams, perfect percussion and the bluesy feel that comes from one of my favorite vocalists. If your collecting old Purple material and scooping up the bands earlier releases then this should be at or near the top of your list.
Who doesn't love Deep Purple? This is one of their best!
