Since the departure of Uli Jon Roth, the direction of the Scorpions seemed to change dramatically, or was it that new guitarist Mathias Jabs was so different in style that it made them sound like a completely different band? From 1979 the Scorpions released album after album which all had their high and low points but as time moved on these low points seem have slowly faded away. From my first listening to Humanity-Hour 1, I didn't hear one low point at all. I had to listen to it again, and to think that Rudolf and Klaus are both almost 60 years old. This is the best album from the Scorpions to date without a doubt. Mathias Jabs seems to have taken the song writing lead and a bit more control on this album but it also has many tracks written by Klaus Meine and Rudolf Schenker with Desmond Child. It is still Scorpions through and through with plenty of catchy chanting melodies to get stuck in your head and excellently written haunting ballads which the Scorpions have always done so well whatever the band line up. The bonus DVD contains another Jabs composition along with interview footage from the Greatest and Hardest Rocking band to have ever come out of Germany. The Scorpions now have to face a problem normally encountered in the early years of any band, how do they follow up on this excellent 20th album?Read full review
