A very different sound from Mr.Meat but stil definitely loaf.
A very different sound (nothing like the Steinman collaborations) from Mr.Meat but still definitely loaf. double disc ; the second being live performances. According to the sleeve this album is based on a book and although I have never read the book , each song does tell a short story of sorts. I would recommend for fans of the singer!!

Meat loaf is still "hangin cool"
Meat Loaf doesn't want peace on earth, he roars on the first track of this album; he just wants to go home. Go home? In his prime, Meat would have died before being such a party-pooper. But don't despair – he's simply voicing the thoughts of a fictional soldier, whose "story" furnishes the album's theme. Each song presents "a different scenario in his future", which makes a change from the monsters and bats that have inhabited previous records, but the narrative is really incidental to the music. Hang Cool, Teddy Bear is of a piece with the rest of his catalogue: the pounding guitars never slacken, emotions are writ very large and the lyrics rarely lack sly wit ("a bunch of losers I call my friends," he bawls on Los Angeloser). Featuring songs featuring a host of guests like Jack Black, Kara Dioguarda, Brian May, Steve Via, Hugh Laurie and Justin Hawkins (who also co writes on a couple of songs) Hang Cool Teddy Bear is as good as anything Meat has done in many a year, i highly recommend to all.Read full review

Okay album for Meatloaf fans, but not his best work, a couple of good tracks and the performances were good but he needs Steinmen.
