I saw Warren at the Bayou in Georgetown accompanied by Timothy B. Schmidt (of POCO and the Eagles). It was scorching! I picked up "Fire" in sometime after that and played the vinyl to ruination. I was so pleased to find it on disc at Amazon. It's rediscovery has moved me to seek out the other Zevon albums missing from my disc library. If you every liked Warren at all; don't miss this album. "Get up and dance or I'll kill you!"

A great excursion into a live rock show. Warren Zevon is in top form with this smoking hot live album finally making its way to CD. Why it has taken so long for this album to finally be released in CD format is a mystery. It also contains four bonus tracks which round out the Zevon live experience very nicely. Werewolves of London takes a few humorous turns in this live recording, but Zevon makes it one of the most irresistable tracks on the CD, along with I'll Sleep When I'm Dead. A great show on all levels!!!
"Live" albums usually stink. They are poorly mixed,and muddy. And they don't capture the "feel" of being there,somehow. But Warren,the band and the recording engineers got it perfect on "Stand in the Fire". Many musicians and critics have said this is one of,if not the best live album,ever. Blazing guitar work and variations on the lyrics help make for a fun,high energy concert experience. There are 4 bonus tracks of which "Frank and Jessie James",continues to prove Warren's piano skills could match Billy or Elton's anytime. If you are reading this,you are no doubt a Zevon fan. This is a must have CD. If you,on the other hand,are not familiar with his music outside of "Werewolves of London",you will find out that he was an amazing songwriter and performer.
