As a long time New York Dolls fan, going back to the concerts I saw them perfrom at various NYC clubs such as Max's Kansas City, the 82 Club, My Father's Place and other clubs. I thought that since Johnny Thunders, Jerry Nolan and Killer Kane were all gone, that the new New York Dolls could not capture that old feeling of the raw rock and roll that was so cool at the time. Well...they do it, thanks to great vocals by the illustrious David Johansen, a bit raspier, but his songs reflect his life...Sylvain and the rest of the band also do justice to the songs. Dance Like a Monkey is such a fantastic tune, and my favorite besides that one would be "I Ain't Got Nothin" which can really capture the sadness of the song. I listen to it all the time now, along side my old Dolls songs, and the Johnny Thunders "So Alone".Read full review
I was a big NY Dolls fans in the 70s and also liked subsequent solo works released by singer David JoHansen. When I heard this project was being released by JoHansen, Sylvain Sylvain, and the new band members I was very curious as to what it would be like. I was able to purchase it in an auction and was not disappointed at all. Rockin' songs with the original Dolls band's influence are strong through out. A guest appearance by REM's Michael Stipe is awesome and this is cool to watch on the making of the album DVD that accompanied this CD. The DVD is a great bonus to have with this new Dolls music.
good songs from a great classic band ,nothing bad
