No Control was the third album from Brooklyn-born rocker, Eddie Money. The album's name made a play on Eddie's character and alluded to the fact that Mr. Money had almost ended his life and his career with a terrible incident referred to as "the accident" by many rock and roll publications. The album runs like a play by play storytelling of moments stemming from that event with songs like "Take a little Bit" giving us a brief peak into Mr. Money's anguish at dealing with the "the accident" and the support he found in this first wife. Though the support was questionable, the music on this album lives on. Rocking the truth, painting the portrait of a bad boy is the pseudo-biographical "No Control", the title track. It's a high gear romp that's a real keeper. In fact, back in the early eighties my band and I used to cover this song and it always set the tone for a heavier set. It was the perfect way to let the audience know we were ready to do some heavy-duty rockin'. Eddie continues the tour-de-force on this album with a vengeance on the AOR rocker "Shakin" while still keeping pop sensibilities in tact with the much loved FM favorite "I Think I'm in Love." One of my favorite songs (and the reason I picked up a CD version of this album) is "It Could Happen to You," a sweet tale of teenage love found and lost that seems to hit home in so many ways. If I remember correctly, it was the winner of a songwriting contest that Mr. Money elected to include on this album. Eddie Money's at his best when he's rocking hard in good old-school fashion and several cuts on this album are must haves for any Eddie Money fan. I highly recommend it.Read full review
I grew up listening to "The Money Man" and this is my favorite of all his releases. If you like toe-tappin', breeze in your hair as you drive the car just a bit faster style sing-along music then you'll absolutely love this cd. There is not a single bad song on this disk, every song is very strong. Even if your not a fan of Eddie Money, you've no doubt heard quite a few of his hits on the radio and this disk has a couple of them that I am sure you'll find yourself singing along to when they come on as your cruisin' home from work on a nice Friday afternoon. I'd recommend this as a great place to start if you've heard Eddie's music on the radio and have yet to buy one of his cd's.
Sounds as good today as it did when it was first released.
