Stryper -Soldiers Under Command helped me out alot when I was a teenager! Some of the songs that I really have enjoyed through the years are "Soldiers Under Command", "The Rock That Makes Me Roll", "Makes Me Wanna Sing", and "Surrender". This albuma and c.d. is a Christian Metal anthem that everyone should listen to, if you are into Dio, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, WASP, and Icon's music. You will really enjoy this one! I give it 12 stars!
If you like very good sounding Jackson guitars through Marshalls, you will love this CD. Ignore the lyrics if you are offended by the Christian message. This CD is extremely good. The dual octave solos are great and my favorite tracks are the ones you probably never heard - 'The Rock That Makes Me Roll' and 'Reach Out' come to mind. The 80's era power ballad is schmaltzy but it isn't the worst one I have ever heard. Definitely worth the purchase!!
While perhaps not as good as THWTDevil, this album vaulted these guys to legendary status. This is 80s glam-metal at its best. Great musicianship throughout. Lyrically, blunt and encouraging. The title track and Rock that Makes me Roll are stellar rockers. Reach Out showcases Robert on drums. Together Forever and Together as One showcase the band's vocal abilities. Makes Me Sing and Surrender are worshipful. The hymn remake is kind of cool. However, in comparison with Stryper's usual balladry, these are not as good as later mellow efforts.
If you like rock and roll but love Jesus at the same time you can;t go wrong with Stryper. Very upbeat and fun yet at the same time Biblical and moral. A very talented band that have done a great job from the 80's and kept up with today;s trends. I love how the music is something my kids will listen to and still get a good message from it.
Stryper was a solid band that rocked as hard as Motley Crue or any of those types of bands in their day and this was likely their best of all their CD's.
