After the disastrous album "Bad Animals", this one skyrockets upward like a star! It definitely has the band coming to their senses and making music of a much better quality. They still can't get past the 2nd-year-lazy-student soloing, but at least the vocal performance and arrangement is way better. Some original attempts here and there, which is nice and the overall feel of the album is much more solid, sounds like the Wilsons really gave it all here. What stands out the most if the song "Tall Dark Handsome Stranger" - which obviously falls in their most natural vocal range and the right rock/bluesy composition sits never better. There are several more songs which are really good, but none of the same quality. I'd say that this album is indeed an improvement from the "Heart", and let's hope it will keep up and get better. Because, as much as i like it - it is nonetheless not without drawbacks which keep haunting this band's style. For one - the lovelorn-schoolgirl lyrics are still firmly there, like a soldier on watch, not showing any intent of wising up. Two - really poor soloing is here too, and three - album balance still keeps focus toward slower songs, and that sounds awkward and makes things drag. Nonetheless, even though i am a little bit too generous with the 4 stars rating, i still stand by it and say that i'd recommend this album to people who want to listen to some good female fronted rock; if they are ready to put up with lame soloing and naive-copy-pasted lovesick lyrics.Read full review
Very good album and the price was excellent. The cd arrived early and in great shape as well . This CD is actually a replacement of a cassette of the same, I played and played the cassette so much the lettering is almost invisible. This mid 1980 s offering by Heart is one of the best examples of the band
