For my money, Black Rain is superior in every way to the original Dark Lotus album. One can tell the Lotus has grown a group, both lyrically and creatively. The six Petals of the Lotus send the dark rain falling upon your cranium with tales of the dark spiritual (Ex, Consume Your Soul, Corrosion), hauntings (Ex, Hell House), loss of sanity (Ex, She Was, My 1st Time, Pass the Ax), and what it means to be a keeper of the Lotus (Ex, Under the Lotus, With the Lotus, Death Don't Want You). Let's not forget "Doornail Dorothy," the neighborhood corpse who is just dying to quench your sexual fires. But my absolute favorite Black Rain tale is "The Walls," perfect in every way, from the lyrics to the tunes to the story. There are many ways to describe this song, but basically it's about the world's worst mental institution, your own mind! Expect to hear tales of darkness and devestation, but of inspiration as well. (Only if you're a juggalo, though. If you're not a juggalo, DON'T expect to find inspiration on this album.) If you want to hear some of the best Dark Lotus, get the Black Rain album now!Read full review
This is album is a wicked masterpiece. Something a juggalo should have or have listened to atleast a million times. This album brings some of the best/wickest flows from Madrox, Monoxide, Shaggy 2 Dope, Violent J, Blaze Ya Dead Homie together they form the supergroup Dark Lotus. Together are a unstoppable force. This album features tracks like Hell House, Doornail Dorthy, Pass the Axe, She was, and Death Dont want you. Very Graphic lyrics that any juggalo would love or any horror movie fan, b/c they get very indepth on the track she was about how each one of them would handle there ex or girl that rejects them. Pass the Axe is just about pure murder like a horror film. Hell house also goes with the whole horror movie them dealing with a house full of murders and death, and wanting to purchase this house, b/c its always for sale. So overall a very strong album, a must have.Read full review
The members of Dark Lotus who were featured on this album were Violent J, Shaggy 2 Dope, Jamie Madrox, Monoxide Child, Blaze Ya Dead Homie and Anybody Killa. As of summer 2006, Jamie Madrox has claimed this is the last Dark Lotus album that will ever be recorded, although Violent J said in a recent interview that there will be more albums from side-projects such as Dark Lotus and Psychopathic Rydas. In the song Hell House, Anybody Killa's verse about somebody called Amy is a reference to the Insane Clown Posse song Amy's In The Attic from their Terror Wheel EP. The melody for Pass The Ax is Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. After the last track on the album, some indecipherable sounds can be heard, which, when played backwards is what seems to be a preacher reading a verse from the Bible.
