The on-line edition of Any Time Now available for the last year is the better of the two versions. The new songs aren't bad but lots of political overtones. For a group known for its boy meets girl tunes like Your Love, All the Love in the World and For You, they probably won't win any new fans with this one. For fans of The Outfield its great to have new Outfield tunes, no matter what. If you like their sound and don't mind the anti-Bush rhetoric, pick it up.
There are two versions of Any Time Now, the first was a 2004 web only release with 17 tracks, the second one (this one) was released more in the mainstream with 12 tracks. Both have several tracks that the other doesn't have, so it's surprising that the CD title is the same, and even the cover art didn't change. By my count, just from quickly comparing the track listings, the two versions share 8 tracks. The songs are excellent, it's quite worth searching out both.
I have been a fan of The Outfield for many years and own several of their CDs. So when the opportunity presented itself to purchase this CD, I welcomed the opportunity! The music and musicianship here is just as if The Outfield had never missed a beat. Great lyrics and hooks!
One of there best works since play deep. If you can find this hard to find cd I definitely recommend it to any Outfield fan
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
True to form; the Outfield plays their usual melodic pop, up tempo songs better than anything they've done since Play Deep. Nothing groundbreaking here, just good solid tunes.
