Aerosmith purists will always find fault in any collection from their hero's Columbia years ('72-'79) if it doesn't include "Toys In The Attic" or "Big Ten Inch". The fact that they are missing from this collection is probably more due to the fact that this CD was originally pressed in vinyl, and could only host about a dozen tracks, no more. For the rest of us, this is the BEST collection of their early work on a single disc. This is the cream of the crop from the years before big-time partying and even bigger egos torn them apart (or at least encouraged Joe Perry to split). If you want to include the best of their second act (the Geffen years; '84-'94), when Joe rejoined the gang, then you'll want to grab a copy of "Big Ones" to pair up with this disc. Together, you'll have a nearly complete package. But... fans know that the boys resigned with Columbia/Sony and produced some good music for them after the Geffen years. None of those tracks show up on either of the above discs. The solution: Look at the "The Essential Aerosmith" which is a jam packed, 2-disc collection. "Attic and "Ten Inch" are included in that set, as are "Pink" and "Jaded" from the Columbia/Sony years after '97. Also included in "Essential" is the Run DMC version of "Walk This Way", and a few others.Read full review
This is a MUST HAVE! It is a great collection of some of the very best of Aerosmith's early works, and you can see the influence many of the tracks have on music today. The tracks are smooth and clear, and Tyler's voice, along with Perry's riffs are still some of the best. I bought this as a replacement CD for the one I originally had about 20 years ago, and over many years in many CD players, mine had become unreadable, I had lost the cover, etc. It was great to get back some of the music I still love. So, if you ever come across a guy that just turned 40 in a very conservative Cadillac BLASTING "Walk This Way" it just might be me!
This has all the classic Aerosmith songs; "Dream On", "Same Old Song and Dance", "Sweet Emotion", "Walk This Way", "Last Child", "Back In The Saddle", "Draw The Line", "Kings and Queens", "Come Together" and "Remember(Walking in the Sand)". The only thing this collection needed was "Mama Kin" These are the hits from the 70's and early 80's. Not the Come back stuff of the late 80's and 90's. But to anyone who loves Aerosmith this is a must have disc. You will not find any of these songs on I-Tunes
I heard an old Areosmith song on the TV and realized it had been a long time since I listened to them. (Old cassette days). Looked on eBay for a CD and found one immediately at cheap price. I'm thoroughly enjoying refreshing my appreciation for this great band. I think the younger generation is starting to appreciate the old great rock and roll bands as well. I highly recommend this CD. Has some great music on it.
Love this CD!!!!! Every song is great, especially "Walk This Way" Love Areosmith!!!!!
