Many would consider A Night at the Opera to be Queen's best album but after hearing this I am not really sure. The whole album is so hard when compared to the cheery ANATO. The first half of the album is perfect every single song fits perfectly. The second half is a little weaker but still really great. The opening track is flawless and this is how every album should start with a bang. The last track has got to be one of Queen's best songs and it is how every album should end, with a bang(In this case it is also a literal bang). I manage to get the Jananese version and in my opinion it is the best available version. The sound quality is amazing and the best part is you get the album without the bonus track which is almost identical to the original(stone cold crazy). The album ends like it was ment to end with the amazing In the Lap of the Gods...Revisited. If you have a choice between this version or the Hollywood '91 version do yourself a favor and get this one you wont regreat it. Non of the insertrs are in Japanese by the way.Read full review
By far the strongest Queen album as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't consider myself a big Queen fan, but this ranks as one of my top ten albums of all time. The instrumentation and vocals are in the main flawless, with even the oddity "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" being performed with aplomb, which never ceases to make me smile. "In the Lap of the Gods...revisited" is one of the most underrated songs in the Queen back catalogue. Highlights: - Brighton Rock / Killer Queen / Stone Cold Crazy / In the Lap of the Gods...revisited. 1. Brighton Rock.***** 2. Killer Queen.***** 3. Tenement Funster.***** 4. Flick of the Wrist.**** 5. Lily of the Valley.***** 6. Now I'm Here.**** 7. In the Lap of the Gods.***** 8. Stone Cold Crazy.***** 9. Dear Friends.*** 10. Misfire.*** 11. Bring Back That Leroy Brown.**** 12. She Makes Me (stormtrooper in stilettoes).**** 13. In the Lap of the Gods...revisited.*****Read full review
I decided to buy this because I am HUGE Queen fan, and I was impressed with the album. Its very good, but for pickier buyers it sounds more like 'Queen' then 'Queen II'. For more proggessive, dubbed sounds look at 'Queen 2' and 'A Night At the Opera', for more rock sounding melodies look at 'Sheer Heart Attack' and 'Queen'. This is a short and overall very well produced album. Love Queen forever~
I love it
