I was always disappointed with the CD version of The Stranger. It was tinny and weak sounding. Well no issues with the 5.1 SACD. It's amazing clear and it is far from weak. The bass is powerful. To the extent I actually had to dial it down some. The surround mix is a good addition without distraction. Since this music wasn't meant to be 5.1 it could easily be overdone. Not so here. If you can get a copy at a reasonable price I recommend it for any Billy Joel fan.

This SACD is a great example of why we should NOT have abandoned the original non-hybrid SACD format. One of the early releases, great care went into ensuring this release blew away the listener. You will hear detail lost in all other releases. My favorite SACD, and highly recommended listening.
