In the late 90s or early 00s, Castle/Sanctuary reissued the first 10 Kinks albums on CD. For some reason the U.K. reissues came LOADED with bonus tracks while their U.S. counterparts were severely skimped out on (why???), making it worthwhile for anyone with a cursory interest in this band to buy the imports for a little extra - and it's worth it. Unfortunately, as of this writing, it seems the UK reissues have all gone out of print (lack of interest maybe? stupid..) so now it seems prices on these things seem to be skyrocketing. I'm not going to go into how great 'Face to Face' is. You must buy it, it contains a great, diverse collection of songs from the strongest Kinks/Ray Davies songwriting period and the bonus CD comes with seven (!) extra tracks, all of which simply keep the album flowing. "I'm Not Like Everybody Else" keeps the album going so well, one would think it was meant to be on there in first place rather than ending with "I Remember." So, thus begins my quest to buy some of the best CDs I should have purchased a decade ago...Read full review
I overlooked this record at the time of it's original release. I am so glad I decided to buy it now. It's timeless Kinks! I knew "Sunny Afternoon" and "Dandy" from the radio and loved those songs. I really enjoyed discovering "Party Line", "Rosie Please Come Home", "Fancy", well, all the tracks! I regard it an essential part of my music collection.
the kinks are a greater band than just their hits.

Simply one of the greatest albums of all time. Of course, this is my opinion. It is not as perfect as Pet Sounds from Beach Boys, or Odessey and Oracle from The Zombies, but the difference is so small, also Ray Davies one of the greatest composer in the beat music world.
Great. Thanks
